LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar. 5, 2012-- Kilroy Realty Corporation (NYSE: KRC) today announced that veteran commercial real estate professional David Simon has joined Kilroy Realty Corporation ("KRC") as Executive Vice President.
At KRC, Mr. Simon will be responsible for developing and executing a value add strategy for KRC's existing 3.4 million square-foot industrial portfolio as well as identifying and acquiring value-add opportunities in the greater Los Angeles area.
Mr. Simon brings to KRC more than 25 years of experience acquiring, developing, managing and creating value in office, industrial, mixed-use, multi-family and retail product throughout the United States.
Mr. Simon was formerly a Managing Director at Broadreach Capital Partners ("BRCP"), a private equity real estate investment firm with more than $1 billion of equity capital under management. During his tenure at BRCP, he built the investing and management platform in Southern California where he sourced and was involved in acquisitions of more than $1 billion in commercial real estate, including office, industrial, retail and land. He also was responsible for asset management oversight for the firm's portfolio in Southern California and the Southwest.
Prior to joining BRCP in 2004, Mr. Simon was a Partner with Kearny Real Estate Company, a partnership originally established as a subsidiary of the Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds. Mr. Simon was a key member in acquisitions, entitlement, land and ground-up development, repositioning, distressed debt work-outs, leasing, asset management and dispositions of commercial projects in California.
Previously Mr. Simon was with the Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds in Southern California where he focused on acquisitions, asset management, and dispositions of approximately $1.5 billion of real estate across all asset types. Mr. Simon began his career at Citicorp Real Estate responsible for a portfolio of office, multifamily, and retail property throughout California, Texas and Florida.
Mr. Simon received a Master's Degree in Real Estate Development from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida. He is a licensed California Real Estate Broker and a full member of the Urban Land Institute. He has served as a board member and trustee for the non-profit Affordable Living for the Aging based in Southern California and also has established the Simon Family Drug Research Fund at the University of Alabama.
